Classroom

Holman will earn a B.A. in communications in May 2013. He has a GPA of 2.89 and was named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll in 2010 and 2012 as well as the the Dean’s List selection in Fall 2011. Holman was also an Honor Roll student at the Gilman School.

Character

Holman is a four-year member of UNC’s Baddour Leadership Academy. He achieved the leadership academy’s highest award (Leader of Distinction) in spring 2012 as a junior, a very rare occurrence.  He is also a three-year member of the ACC Student-Athlete Advisory Council that meets with ACC student-athletes, NCAA Officials and conference administrators.

Community

Holman was the organizer of iBELLieve in Love 5k run in February 2011.  He also participated in Match for Kim and joined National Marrow Donor Program in 2012.  His UNC community service projects have included organizing the Kid’s Ice Cream Cart at UNC Children’s Hospital and teaching after school lacrosse skills to students at Chapel Hill’s Glenwood Elementary School.

Competition

Holman is a 4-year lettermen and a team captain as junior and senior (1st solo captain since 1990).  He was the 12th pick in 2013 Major League Lacrosse Draft. His accolades include ACC Freshman of the Year 2010,  honorable mention All-America as a sophomore midfielder, All-ACC 2012, Second-team All-America 2012, Team MVP in both 2011 and 2012 and finally Team Offensive MVP in 2012.  Holman won the Jay Gallagher Award as UNC’s outstanding freshman in 2010.  As a junior he had 74 points (3rd most in a season in UNC history), 39 goals (8th most in a season) and 35 assists (4th most in a season). Holman had 10 points against Michigan, second most in a game in Carolina history.  As a sophomore he had 23 goals and 5 assists for 28 points after he switched position from attack as a freshman to midfielder as a sophomore (and then back to attack as junior and senior).  Holman was ACC Freshman of the Year with 22 goals and 9 assists for 31 points despite starting only 8 of 16 games on attack and he has won multiple ACC Player of Week awards.  He was Nike National Player of the Week after scoring four goals in 9-7 upset win over Maryland in his first career start. For the upcomming season, Holman was named a Pre-season First-team Inside Lacrosse All-American.
