Character

Coleman III is the unquestioned leader, both on and off the court, of the Texas Men’s Basketball program. During the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic last spring, Coleman III helped organize player zoom calls.

Starting all but one game in his four-year career, Coleman III has been a model of consistency on the court.

Community

Coleman III led the charge for the team’s uniform patch message, ‘Spread Love,’ that is being worn this year. Coleman III has also been instrumental in crafting and creating the team’s ‘Uplift Texas’ campaign, in which Texas Men’s Basketball players serve as mentors and develop relationships via Zoom with selected under-resourced and disadvantaged youth in the Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio areas.

Coleman III has also participated in the team’s “Shop with the Horns” event in December of 2019, where players paired up with the Neighborhood Longhorns program and provided money to go Christmas shopping with selected kids for their families.

Competition

Coleman III is a four-year starter at point guard and became the 38th player in program history to top the 1,000 career point mark. Claiming MVP honors at the 2020 Maui Invitational in early December of 2020, Coleman III has also led Texas to a No.4 ranking in the AP Poll (as of January 4, 2021), which is the highest ranking for Texas since 2010-11. Coleman III recently became the eigth player in school history to record at least 400 career assists.

Prior to the start of the 2020-21 season, Coleman III was one of 20 preseason candidates for the Bob Cousy Award. As a junior, Coleman III earned third team All-Big 12 honors, after receiving All-Big 12 honorable mention accolades as a freshman and sophomore.
