Matthew Bosher will pursue a second major this fall after graduating in May with a degree in history and a minor in sport administration. He’s been a member of the University of Miami Athletic Director’s Honor Roll, he’s a two-time Miami Book Buster recipient and in 2007 Bosher made the Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Honor Roll.

Character

A consummte leader on and off the field, Bosher is looked up to by both his teammates and the UM Athletic Department staff. Bosher has gone out of his way to represent the Miami football program with class and a passion for the game of football and his teammates. Whether speaking to his academic advisor, coaches or teammates, Bosher receives only the highest praises.

Community

Bosher has been involved in numerous community service activities, including the Canes on Patrol program, which works with the Broward County Sheriff’s Department to encourage Broward youth to stay in school and out of gang and street-related violence. He also served as a mentor in the Fun 4 Kidz program, which paired him with a Miami-Dade area middle-school student whom he met with once a month and talked with on the phone every week.

Competition

A dual threat on special teams, Bosher earned first-team All-ACC kicker and second-team All-ACC punter honors last season. As a kicker he connected on 14 of 16 field goals and finished the season with 12 successful attempts in a row, which is the second-best streak in school history for a career and a single season. He also led the ACC with a perfect 50 of 50 in PATs and was picked as the 2009 Rivals.com All-ACC first-team kicker as well as Phil Steele’s All-ACC first-team kicker and second-team punter. In 2008 Bosher was a Lou Groza Award Semifinalist, he made the All-ACC second team and he received the Jack Harding Award as Miami’s team MVP.
