Matthew Padre

Classroom

Padre, an accounting major, is on track to graduate in May of 2021. He carries a 3.94 GPA and has earned 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District Baseball Team honors once, MAAC All-Academic Team honors twice, and Dean’s Lists honors all seven semesters.

Padre was recently inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma national honor society. He has also been inducted into Epsilon Sigma Pi, which is Manhattan’s highest honor.

He has also worked 10-12 hours a week as a tutor at the Manhattan College Center for Academic Success.

Padre has accepted an internship with KPMG for this summer.

Character

Padre was named Co-President of Beta Alpha Psi’s Lambda Pi Chapter last fall. He has also been named President of the Manhattan College’s Accounting Society for 2020-2021.

For the last two years, Padre has served as the Relay for Life Treasurer. In his sophomore and junior years, he served as an investement club stock analyst.

He has been a member of the Manhattan College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and is in his second year as the baseball representative.

Community

Padre has served as the Director of Community Service for Beta Alpha Psi’s Lambda Pi Chapter. He coordinated their community service events, including the VITA Program, St. Judes Virtual 5K, and the clean-up Van Cortland Park. Padre also coordinated the fundraising for various organizations, including the WWF, Meals on Wheels, Wounded Warrior Project, The Bail Project, the Hopeline Foundation, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

For Beta Alpha Psi, Padre set up a Letters to Veterans event and served as a JPALS mentor in 2019-2020. JPALS helps freshmen become more acclimated to the student-athlete life.

He has participated in the Manhattan Movers program, where student-athletes help freshmen move into their dorms during orientation week.

With the Manhattan SAAC, Padre has participated in the Tunnels to Towers Run for three consecutive years. He has also participated in the Making Strides in Central Park: Breast Cancer Walk and Relay for Life event.

Competition

In 2020, Padre was named to the All-MAAC first team as a catcher. He hit a team-best .340 with 10 RBIs, six runs, and four doubles. Padre had five multi-hit performances and posted a .472 SLG and .379 OBP.

He was also named the MAAC Player of the Week after hitting .769 over four games. In their series against Saint Peter’s, Padre hit .889 with two home runs, three doubles, eight runs, and nine RBIs. He had a 1.489 SLG and .789 OBP.

Entering 2021, Padre has 121 career hits, 68 RBIs, and nine home runs.
