Classroom

Devine is a dedicated student in the classroom as the Physical Education major has recorded a cumulative GPA of 3.664. The Kingsport, Tenn. native was the recipient of the 2013 Buccaneer Leadership Award, which is given to an ETSU student-athlete for displaying outstanding academics, athletics, and service. During her time at ETSU, Devine has been a two-time Buccaneer 4.0 Club member (Fall 2011 and 2012), three time A-Sun All-Academic Team selection, four time Dean’s List (semester GPA of 3.7 or higher) member, six time Buccaneer Honor Roll (3.0 GPA or higher) honoree. Devine was also a 2012 A-Sun All-Academic Team member.

Character

Devine portrays the true characteristics of a student-athlete. She is a leader both on and off the court and is a dependable, honest, loyal, hard-working person who is always looking how to improve in all aspects of life. As a local product, residing in Kingsport, Tenn., and having her mother be the head coach of the volleyball team, Devine has had to work extra hard to get to where she is today. She has been a positive role model in the community and on campus. Since playing for the Bucs, she has shown great strength, courage, and dependability as she has played in all but one of the 102 total games in her career, while she enters the 2013 season playing in 100 straight matches… Megan is a fighter and a true champion as losing only makes work harder on the court, in the weight room, and in practice, while the team feeds off her emotions, thus they continue to get better through her work ethic.

Community

Being a local student-athlete, Devine has had the opportunity to give back to her community in more ways than one. During her time at ETSU, Megan has spent numerous hours at community events such as Dawn of Hope, Mentors in School, Special Olympics, Little Bucs, Kingsport Volleyball Club.

Competition

Since stepping foot on campus in the fall of 2010, Devine has played a key role in ETSU’s success on the court. In her three years, Devine has led the Bucs to 64 wins, an A-Sun Tournament title, and the program’s first ever NCAA Tournament appearances (2012). In addition, Devine has built quite the resume by receiving numerous accolades such as: A-Sun Player of the Year (2012), A-Sun Freshman of the Year (2010), A-Sun Tournament MVP (2012), Two-time First Team All-Atlantic Sun Selection (2011-2012)—unanimous selection in 2012, A-Sun All-Freshmen Team honoree (2010), and American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Region Honorable Mention (2012). Meanwhile, in 2012, Devine joined the 1,000-kill/1,000-dig club, while breaking A-Sun records in double-doubles (25), double-doubles in conference only matches (15), attack attempts (1,586) and attack attempts in conference only matches (839). Devine also holds ETSU single-season records for kills (2012). A year ago, Devine recorded double-digit kills 33 times and registered 20-plus kills six times, along with ranking 57th nationally in points per set (4.55) and 66th in kills per set (3.94). The ETSU outside hitter also led all A-Sun players in total kills (547), ranked second in kills per set (3.94), and ranked sixth in service aces in 2012.
