Megan Minnix

Classroom

Megan Minnix was named second-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District in 2009 and is a two-time Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team selection. She is a two-time recipient of Charlotte’s Bonnie Cone Award for Academic Excellence and was named third-team NSCAA Scholar All-South Region in 2009. She has a 3.935 GPA in marketing.

Character

After serving as vice captain in 2009, Minnix will be the team co-captain in 2010. As a team leader during her career, she has helped the 49ers capture two A-10 regular-season titles and two A-10 Tournament titles, reach three A-10 Tournament title games, and make two NCAA Tournament appearances.

Community

Minnix has participated in numerous youth soccer clinics during her career as well as participated several times in the University’s Campus Clean-Up day, the athletic department’s Toy for Tots and Dig Pink Penny Wars programs. In 2010, she helped with a Haiti Relief Fundraiser, a Women in Sports Day Clinic and the 49ers Homecoming Blood Drive.

Competition

Minnix is a preseason All-Atlantic 10 selection in 2010. She played defender her first three collegiate seasons and is switching to the midfield this season. She was a 2009 First-Team All-Atlantic 10 selection and a second-team All-Atlantic 10 selection in 2008. Minnix was named to the A-10 All-Championship team in 2008. She is a three-year starter who has anchored a 49ers defense that has recorded 37 shutouts during her career.
