Character

Meredith Hardy demonstrates the true characteristics of a student-athlete as she excels in both the court and the classroom. Not only has Hardy played a vital role in ETSU’s success in winning back-to-back A-Sun championships, but she also gives back to the community as she is a local student-athlete from nearby Kingsport, Tenn. When she’s not being a coach on the court for ETSU, Hardy spends her time coaching at the Kingsport Volleyball Club, while she is involved with ETSU’s SAAC program and helps out at ETSU’s volleyball camps as an instructor. Prior to arriving at ETSU, Hardy had to overcome a difficult obstacle as she tore her labrum and underwent shoulder surgery to repair the tear.

Community

Being a local student-athlete, Meredith Hardy is always looking to give back to the community whenever she can. Hardy has helped play a key role in ETSU’s yearly “A Buccaneer Christmas” event which gives children from Coalition for Kids a Christmas celebration here on ETSU’s campus. In addition, Hardy helps out at ETSU’s “Little Bucs” program, which is an on-campus daycare facility while she has also served food at the Salvation Army and has worked with Relay for Life.

Competition

Hardy has been a fierce middle blocker since stepping foot on ETSU’s campus in the fall of 2011. Hardy has already broke the Atlantic Sun all-time blocks record (474) and ETSU’s block assist mark (404) in only 96 matches played. She is also a two-time First Team All-Atlantic Sun performer and an A-Sun All-Freshman Team selection in 2011. Hardy also enters the season with an impressive streak as she has recorded at least one block in 91 straight matches, while she has played in 96 of the total 98 matches for ETSU since 2011 - including the last 78 consecutive matches. In addition to her all-conference honors, Hardy has received A-Sun All-Tournament Team honors in 2012 and has compiled six A-Sun Weekly awards (three Player of the Week and three Defensive Player of the Week). Along with breaking all-time records, Hardy also holds ETSU single-match records in solo blocks in a three-set match (7) and tied the single-match record with 10 blocks in a three-set match vs. Presbyterian in 2012. In 2012, Hardy also set single-season A-Sun records for total blocks (2010 and blocks in A-Sun only matches (113). In 2013, Hardy ranked 10th nationally in blocks per set (1.52) and has led the A-Sun in blocks in 2012 and 2013.
