Michael boasts a 3.07 cumulative grade point average.  Majoring in political science with a minor in business, he has completed internships with Maryland State Senate President Mike Miller (2006), Constellation Energy (2007) and Black Rock (Collateral Management).

Character

Evans was selected by his teammates as a team captain this season.

Community

Michael began his work in the community prior to enrolling at Johns Hopkins as he volunteered with a Special Education Center, where he assisted mentally challenged students in class (junior and senior year).  He has participated in the Anne Arundel Country Victims Fun Run and has volunteered at the Johns Hopkins Children’s hospital the last several years reading stories and playing games with terminally ill children.  Active in the Johns Hopkins men’s lacrosse Holiday Magic initiative since arriving at JHU, he has delivered gifts to the Hopkins Hospital, a battered women’s shelter and a home for families in need.  Evans has also assisted with the Johns Hopkins Tutorial Program the last four years, distributing school supplies and holiday gifts to approximately 120 Baltimore City school-aged children.

Competition

Generally regarded as one of the top 2-3 returning defensemen in the nation, Michael was named Third Team USILA All-American in 2008 after garnering Honorable Mention USILA All-America honors in 2007.  In addition, he was chosen as a member of the 2008 NCAA All-Tournament Team after leading Johns Hopkins to the national championship game.  He has played in all 48 games in his career and started all 34 as a sophomore and junior.  Michael’s other accolades include top defender on JHU’s 2007 national championship team and 2008 national runner-up team.
