Classroom

Fucito, a psychology major, has a cumulative 3.27 grade point average as a senior at Harvard. Last fall, he was one of 10 Harvard student-athletes on fall sports teams to earn a spot on the Academic All-Ivy League team. The Westford, Mass., native was also named to ESPN the Magazine’s Academic All-District first team. Fucito is an active member of Harvard’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Character

Fucito underwent hip surgery for a torn labrum after his 2007 season. The doctors also had to shave his hip bone, a difficult injury for a soccer player. He was told originally that he would be out for six months, not enabling him to return to the Crimson until two months into the 2008 season. However, he has had a speedy recovery and he might even be back by the start of this season. For his determination and skill, Fucito was elected captain by his teammates for the 2008 season.

Community

During his freshman and sophomore seasons at Harvard, Fucito traveled to Newton, Mass., with his college coaches to do a coaching clinic for young children.

Competition

Fucito was among 48 Division I men’s soccer players from around the country that were selected to the 2008 Missouri Athletic Club’s Hermann Trophy Watch List. Fucito, a forward on the Crimson, finished his junior season with career highs in goals (11) and points (29) and was selected to the NSCAA All-America Second Team for his efforts. Fucito is an Ivy League Rookie of the Year for 2004, a two-time NSCAA All-Northeast Region First Team honoree and All-Ivy League selection.
