Classroom

Mazzullo maintains a 3.45 GPA at one of the top academic institutions in the country. He was one of only 10 fall student-athletes at Columbia to be named to Academic All-Ivy League team as a junior.

Character

Mazzullo has been named captain of the men’s soccer team three times, becoming the first player in program history (since 1957) to earn captaincy in three seasons. He has also been a member of the Leaders for Life program at Columbia since his sophomore year.

Community

Mazzullo participated in Level the Field classroom visits and clinics over the past two years. Along with his teammates, he organized Cycle for Survival for Columbia Athletics to help raise money for cancer research. Mazzullo visited his former high school and gave a school-wide speech at a pep rally in November 2010.

Competition

Mazzullo was named honorable mention All-Ivy League as a junior. He played and started in all 17 matches, while playing all but two minutes in the midfield.He plays primarily at a holding midfield position, and has helped Columbia’s defense improve each and every year. He led the team to three straight shutouts to close out Ivy League play in 2010, the longest conference shutout streak since 1995.
