Classroom

Burow has posted a 3.48 cumulative GPA with a double major in Actuarial Science and Finance. She has made the Dean’s List four times, and she passed the Actuarial Exam P (Probabilities) in May 2011. She completed the UNI Honors Program, and is anticipated to graduate in December 2011. Burow was an honorable mention on the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Team in 2009 and 2010.

Character

Burow is a quiet leader on and off the floor, always competing at a high level while demonstrating sportsmanship. She has worked with local youth, including serving as a statistics teaching assistant for high school students at the Iowa Mathematics and Science Academy. She also worked as a softball coach for grades 1-6 and as an overnight dorm supervisor for UNI volleyball camps.

Community

In her time at UNI, Burow has given back to the local and state-wide community. She has volunteered with Relay for Life, the Cedar Ben Humane Society, the Northeast Iowa Foodbank, Exceptional Persons, Inc., and as a reader at elementary schools in the Cedar Valley. She also volunteered as a youth volleyball clinic coach and at the Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines.

Competition

Burow was an honorable mention member of the 2010 AVCA All-America Team. She also picked up AVCA All-Central Region honors in 2010. She was named to the MVC All-Freshman team in 2008, and she was an all-conference first-team selection in 2009 and 2010. She led UNI in attack percentage as both a sophomore and junior, and she also led UNI in kills per game in 2010.
