Classroom

Michelle is currently on pace to graduate this coming spring with a Bachelors of Science in Communications. Michelle has maintained her GPA above a 3.0 her entire academic career and currently sits at 3.143. Michelle has had to enroll in 15 credits or more each semester throughout her career since she hasn’t used summers semesters to pick up credits. Most of the time Michelle has been here she has spent the summers participating in camps, championships, and the Olympics with Team Canada making it necessary that she takes heavier loads academically in the fall and spring semesters. From the moment she came to this campus she was a leader in the classroom, among her team, and among her peers. Michelle always has pushed herself academically. She never settled with the classes he wanted to take and always selected classes that would challenge her intellectually. Michelle is a perfect example of what it means to be a student athlete. She is a two-time Honorable Mention Pac-12 All-Academic Team selection in 2012-13 and 2013-14 in addition to earning 2010-11 Academic all-MWC as a freshman.

Character

Michelle has worked very hard to find herself in the position she is in. Beyond this Michelle was a key contributor and leader to the Woman’s Basketball team. Being a member of the team required much time on the court and time in the community and Michelle never shied from the chance to give back in the community. For the traditional average student this would be all too overwhelming, but she has handled all of her responsibilities with poise and maturity. Michelle’s character exemplifies loyalty, dedication, strength and determination, resilience, and steadfastness in setting and achieving her goals personally and along with her team.

Community

Michelle has been extremely active in the Salt Lake City community by reading to children at local elementary schools near the University of Utah campus at least once a week. In addition, she has also volunteered with the Sugar House Boys and Girls Club in Salt Lake City and collaborated with the University of Utah men’s basketball team to help feed the homeless at Pioneer Park in downtown Salt Lake City.
