McConnell maintains a 2.78 GPA in kinesiology and sports and recreation management.
Character
McConnell will serve as a team captain for the second straight season. He represented the Saint Mary’s student athletes at the freshman orientation for incoming student-athletes at Saint Mary’s. McConnell serves as the Saint Mary’s men’s basketball representative for the Student Athletic Advisory Committee.
Community
Since joining the team McConnell has actively participated in SMC’s community reading program, where the team reads to local elementary schools. He works with the SMC basketball team with Special Olympic clinics held at the college. McConnell has also packaged food for the San Francisco food bank to serve homeless people in the San Francisco and Marin County areas.
Competition
After his junior season, McConnell was selected as a first-team All-West Coast Conference honoree. He led the nation in three-point percentage (51 percent) and enters his senior season as the No. 17 point guard in the nation according to Lindy’s Magazine.
