Classroom

Morgan is a standout student with a current 3.4 overall GPA.  She is an Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar and a two-time MEAC All-Academic honoree. Morgan is majoring in kinesiotherapy with a minor in psychology and plans to attend grad school to become a physical therapist who specializes in pediatrics and amputees.

Character

Morgan has done everything the past four years with pride, dignity and class. She is a perfect role model for all of our student-athletes and plays an important role in recruiting on campus for the athletics department. Her best attribute is her character; she is a coach’s dream and has really helped change the culture of the softball program here at Norfolk State. Morgan is a lead-by-example type of player, but has no problem being a vocal leader when the situation calls for it. She was a clear leader on our team from day one and, over the past four years, has helped mold the younger players in our program into what we need both as students and athletes. As a coaching staff, we have changed her role on our team time and time again, from her spot in the lineup to her position on the field. She has always taken those changes in stride and done whatever is needed for the team to be successful.

Community

As the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference representative on the NCAA Division I Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Morgan has been involved in countless hours of community service activities. As a member of the NCAA SAAC, she has given a student-athlete voice to the discussion and shaping of national legislation, while also presiding over SAAC members from the conference and gaining their input on important matters. Whether she is donating her time with the NSU SAAC or with the softball team, she spends hours upon hours each semester running and coordinating community service events. Morgan has volunteered with the Salvation Army Christmas depot, raised money for and participated in shoe distributions for Samaritan’s Feet, and helped coordinate the student-athlete auction that raised money for the child enrichment initiative Read with MEac. She has been the NSU softball team’s SAAC representative for the past three years, as well as the NSU athletics SAAC representative with the MEAC in addition to her duties at the national level.

Competition

Morgan is a four-year starter for Norfolk State and has been a mainstay in the Spartan outfield. She has really helped to shape the NSU softball program and raise it to new heights over the last four seasons. A left-handed slapper, she was a pre-season all-conference selection and earned second-team All-MEAC honors in 2013. She was instrumental in NSU advancing to the conference championship game in 2013 for just the second time in 16 years in the MEAC and finishing with the most wins in the Division I era. Morgan has posted a .326 career batting average and is 86-of-91 in stolen base attempts over the past three-plus seasons. She set the D-I record for stolen bases at NSU and was ranked 24th in the nation in stolen bases per game last year. She is on pace to break the school’s career hits record in her senior season.
