Classroom

Morgan Klaevemann has been an excellent student throughout her career at Florida State, earning a spot on the Florida State University Dean’s List four times and being named to the Atlantic Coast Conference All-Academic Team in each of her first three seasons. She was named to the Academic All-Region Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America in 2016 and became a CoSIDA Academic All-American in 2017. She excels in balancing her school work in the tough discipline of biological science with being an elite collegiate athlete.

Character

Klaevemann’s character is defined by her leadership. She is a quiet leader who leads by example but does not hesitate to be vocal and demonstrative when the situation calls for it. She is always quick with a joke and a laugh and can lower the tension of any situation to help everyone on the team focus on what is important.

Community

Klaevemann has been a member of the Florida State Softball “TRIBE” for all four years. This group helps organize and participate in numerous community service events on campus and in Tallahassee. She has been a part of street clean-ups, reading at elementary schools, assisting with Relay for Life events and many others. In each of her years at FSU, she has helped the softball team finish in the top two of Florida State’s Director’s Cup, which is given to the sport program with the most community service hours, taking the title in 2015 and 2016.

Competition

On the field, Klaevemann is the catalyst that makes the Florida State offense and defense work. At the top of the lineup, she gets things started through her career .493 on-base percentage, .384 batting average, 105 walks and 109 steals. She has been named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference First Team in each of her first three seasons and was chosen as an NFCA second-team All-American in 2017. Despite only playing three years, she is already among the FSU all-time Top 10 in three categories (as of nomination time): stolen bases (109, fourth), walks (105, seventh) and runs scored (164, 10th), and her career batting average of .384 would easily top the career record of .366, set by three-time All-American Shamalene Wilson. Defensively, Klaevemann helps direct everyone on the field from centerfield and has added 12 outfield assists so far in her career.
