Classroom

Morgan Proffitt has put herself in position to graduate after the fall semester and potentially pursue a professional career by challenging herself as an operations and supply chain management major. She currently has a cumulative grade-point average of 3.128. Proffitt’s dream is to work either in procurement or quality planning management for an athletic company. Sports is her passion, but so is supply chain. She is also a three-time BIG EAST All-Academic Team selection.

Character

Proffitt exemplifies what it means to lead by example, which she does every single day in practice and in games. She sets the tone on the field and in the classroom. Wherever she is involved, she makes a difference. Proffitt plays with fire and tons of heart and what’s best is that she is never satisfied, always wanting to learn more and get better. She’s a leader on the field through her actions, work ethic, skill and overall dedication to the team. Proffitt puts the needs of her friends/teammates above herself and would do anything for anyone in need. She also knows when it is time to work hard but also is capable of relaxing and taking a step away from soccer as her sense of humor allows her to do so.

Community

Proffitt has been involved with Top Soccer, Hunger Clean-Up and Relay for Life for the past three years and also participated in Dance Marathon last year (fundraiser for Children’s Hospital). She has taken some time to do Campus Kitchen and is involved with Athletes in Action, a group of student-athletes that come together once a week to reflect and grow in their faith, share experiences and volunteer time for service.

Competition

The 2016 BIG EAST Conference Preseason Defensive Player of the Year was also named to the MAC Hermann Award Watch List this fall after competing with the United States Under-23 Women’s National Team over the summer in England in a Nordic tournament. Proffitt, playing midfield for the first time in her career this season, was an All-BIG EAST First Team selection as a junior in 2015 and a second-team pick in 2014 as a defender. The Columbus, Ind., native has played in every match of her collegiate career and has started all but two.
