Morgan Turkoly has a 3.69 GPA in accounting. She is a concurrent graduate student, finishing her undergraduate degree while also taking graduate-level courses toward an MBA. She will finish her undergraduate work at the end of February.

Turkoly is a two-time C-USA Softball All-Academic Team selection and is first Louisiana Tech player to make the team since joining the league in 2013. She is a three-time C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll member, three-time C-USA Academic medalist, four-time AD Honor Roll member, two-time president’s list (3.8 gpa or higher) member and a seven-time dean’s list (3.5 gpa or higher) member.

Character

Turkoly is a three-year team captain as voted on by teammates. Louisiana Tech Head Coach Mark Montgomery refers to her as “a coach’s dream.” She is highly-respected by her peers at Louisiana Tech and has been the spokesperson for numerous social media messages/campaigns within athletics.

Community

Turkoly was a recipient of the C-USA Spirit of Service Award in Spring of 2018. She has been a part of 4-Paws rescue, Boys and Girls Club of Ruston and DART (Domestic Abuse Resistance Team) Pumpkin Patch. She is a Puerta Vallarta School volunteer and Puerta Vallarta Softball Clinic volunteer. She has also helped with the Super One Radio-thon Food Drive, Christmas community service (Angel Tree through DART) and Hot Halloween Happenings with Beta Alpha Psi. She also returned to her alma mater, Sanger High School, and spoke to the student-athletes about what it takes to be successful on the college level.

Competition

Turkoly was the 2018 C-USA Player of the Year and is the 2019 Preseason C-USA Player of the Year. She is a three-time all-conference honoree with first-team honors in 2017 and 2018 and second-team honors in 2016. She was a 2018 first-team All-Mideast Region selection, 2017 third-team All-Mideast Region selection, 2018 fourth-team All-American by College Sports Madness, 2016 C-USA All-Freshman Team selection, and she has been named to multiple all-tournament teams during her career. She is a three-time All-Louisiana Sports Writers Association All-State Team selection, and she finished 2018 with a 43-game streak of reaching base safely, which was the third longest in the country. Her career stats include .370 BA, 94 walks to only 40 strikeouts, 33 doubles, 17 home runs, 124 runs, 110 RBI and 38 stolen bases.
