Shafir has been a member of Toledo’s Dean’s List on five occasions, including perfect 4.0 GPA in Spring 2012.

Character

Shafir is a two-time team captain. She was granted a medical hardship waiver from the MAC and will return to Toledo for 2012-13 season after an injury ended what would have been her senior season.

Community

Being involved in the community is something Shafir and her teammates firmly believe in. During Shafir’s time at the University of Toledo, the women’s basketball program has been involved in such community projects as: Susan G. Komen “Race for the Cure,” Ovarian Cancer Walk, Padua Center, Habitat for Humanity, Cullop’s Kids Camp, youth clinics and camps, Girl Scouts Day, Family Day, Wendy’s Little Dribblers, Rocketpalooza, sponsor a Family for Christmas and the Dental Center Give a Kid a Smile

Competition

Shafir is a two-time co-captain. Believed to be first female Orthodox Jew to earn an NCAA I scholarship, Shafir received national media exposure from numerous major-market outlets, including Sports Illustrated, USA Today, New York Times, ESPN.com, CNN, Associated Press, The Canadian Press, The Jerusalem Post and US Presswire. She was also profiled in 2010 Women’s NCAA Tournament ‘Four Four’ Game Program. She is a three-time All-MAC selection, a two-time Academic All-MAC recipient and a four-time MAC West Division Player of the Week honoree. She is a three-time Preseason All-MAC West Division Team selection and was the 2011 WNIT All-Tournament Team MVP. Shafir is a three-time first-team All-America by the Jewish Sports Review. She scored in double figures on 76 occasions at Toledo (2 times in 2011-12, 30 in 2010-11, 25 in 2009-10, 19 in 2008-09), including three double-doubles. She dished out at least six assists on 44 occasions at Toledo (14 times in 2010-11, 21 in 2009-10, 9 in 2008-09) and has started all 106 games in collegiate career.
