Classroom
Natalie Fenske has excelled in the classroom throughout her time at North Dakota State University, tallying a cumulative grade-point average of 3.847. She is a three-time Summit League Fall Academic Honor Roll honoree and a two-time Summit League Distinguished Scholar and Commissioner’s List of Academic Excellence selection. She was named a Bison Most Valuable Scholar Athlete in 2016 and earned the Bison Academic Excellence Award in 2015. Fenske also was named as one of the recipients of the National Consortium for Academics and Sports Student-Athlete Day Award in 2016 for her work in the classroom as well as the community.
Character
Fenske is a two-year starter and three-year letterwinner for the Bison. She was voted by her teammates as one of two team captains this season and is the leader of the NDSU backline. Fenske was involved with the NDSU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) her redshirt sophomore and redshirt junior seasons.
Community
While at North Dakota State, Fenske has volunteered much of her time to the following activities throughout the Fargo-Moorhead Community: SAAC Blood Drive, Summit League Food Drive, Bowl for Kids’ Sake, Special Olympics, TNT Kids’ Fitness and Samaritan’s Feet.
Competition
Fenske has helped the North Dakota State defense rise to one of the top back lines in the Summit League the past two seasons. NDSU ranked second in goals-against average in 2015 (1.23) and first in 2014 (0.91). She was named to the All-Summit League First Team as a defender in 2015 after starting every match for NDSU. Fenske netted her first career goal in North Dakota State’s 4-1 victory at the University of North Dakota on Friday, Sept. 2, 2016.
