Classroom

A two-time recipient of the WCHA Scholar-Athete award in 2006 and 2007, Raduns has earned All-WCHA Academic honors in 2005 and 2006. A member of the SCSU Dean’s List throughout his college career, Raduns is an economics major with a 3.72 cumulative GPA (4.00 scale). He has been named the team’s Brendan J. and Vernie McDonald President’s Award winner for the past two seasons, which is awarded annually to the team’s top student-athlete. In 2005, Raduns was selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V At-Large University Second Team.

Character

Nate has been a senior leader on the 2006-07 St. Cloud State team, which has a #2 national ranking this winter. He has helped SCSU re-emerge as a true NCAA Division I hockey power. In his freshman season, the Huskies finished at 18-16-4 and then went 14-23-3 in his sophomore season. Last year, the Huskies charged back to a 22-16-4 overall record and surprised many with a second place finish at the 2006 WCHA postseason tournament.

Community

Nate has volunteered during his college career at a local battered women’s shelted called Anna Marie’s in St. Cloud. At the shelter, Nate served as a child advocate. In particular, he helped serve as a male role model for the kids that were living at the shelter. He has been active with his hometown youth hockey association, and has been a guest speaker at the Sauk Rapids Youth Hockey banquet and he often skates with the youth and high school programs in Sauk Rapids when he has the opportunity and Nate has also brought along fellow SCSU teammates to skate with the youth teams in Sauk Rapids.

Nate has participated with SCSU’s Read With The Huskies program at the St. Cloud Public Library, a community outreach program that has SCSU hockey players reading stories at the local library to area youth. In addition, he has participated in a team reading program at the Sartell, Minn. Kidstop after school program. He has also been a regular participant in SCSU’s “Skate With The Huskies” program, another community outreach event where local youth and fans are invited to the National Hockey Center for an open skate session with the SCSU hockey teams.

Competition

A four-year regular on the SCSU roster, Raduns has played in 129 career games with 17 goals and 30 assists to his credit for 47 career points. He also has notched four power play goals, two short-handed goals and three game winners at SCSU - with a +10 on the plus/minus. Last year, Raduns scored the game winning goal against Colorado College in the third and deciding game of the first round of the 2006 WCHA Playoffs in Colorado Springs, Colo. SCSU went on to place second in the 2006 WCHA Final Five championships - that include wins over Minnesota Duluth and top ranked Minnesota.
