Classroom

Favatella has been named to the Conference All-Academic Team (2011-13), the Dean List’s (5 of 7 semesters) and the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll (7 of 7 semesters). He is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma and the National College Athlete Honor Society. He has published “The Role of Pharmacy Compounding in Sports Medicine” in New Jersey Journal of Pharmacy and has a publication in process in the New Jersey Journal of Pharmacy, “Sports Related Concussions: What Pharmacists Need to Know”

Character

Favatella is a team captain. He has also been named the Doc Simonsen Memorial scholarship award winner (given to student-athletes who possess responsibility and character) and was selected by pharmacy school dean to be co-interviewer for younger student interviews to enter the pharmacy program.

Community

Favatella has been a part of RU baseball’s effort to raise over $13,500 for the Vs. Cancer Foundation to benefit research for pediatric cancer. He has volunteered at McAfee Road Elementary School Reading Night and is a private tutor of college level biology, chemistry, math, and anatomy and physiology, nutrition and fitness. He has made presentations at Glassboro, N.J., and Franklinville, N.J., senior citizen centers.

Competition

Favatella has started the last 154 games (as of 3/5/14) and finished fifth in the conference with a .379 batting average in league games in 2013. He was a 2013 Second Team NJCBA All-State, 2012 First Team NJCBA All-State, 2013 Second Team All-BIG EAST and earned a spot on BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll (4/1/13) after recording seven hits, five runs and four RBIs in series at Villanova. He led RU with 74 hits, 41 runs, 105 total bases, 274 total plate appearances and 164 assists as a junior.
