Classroom

Nicole Walch is a two-time All-ACC Academic Team member with an overall GPA of 3.47 in sport management. She is on track to graduate in the fall of 2015. She made the Dean’s List four times throughout her career and is also a three-time ACC Honor Roll honoree.

Character

Walch’s talent on the court matches her personality off the court. She has grown into a remarkable leader over the past three seasons. For her first two seasons, Walch had her sister, Elyse, to learn on as she was a right side hitter on the team. Walch worked her way into the starting rotation as a rookie toward the end of the year and has improved each year and taken on more responsibility. She is a friendly, lighthearted, charming, outgoing, determined young lady and is willing to help her teammates succeed at all costs. Walch is one of those players who makes the players around her become better. Both her play and personality are infectious.

Community

Over the past two years, Walch has put in community service hours with over 10 different schools, agencies and organizations that include the Seminole Boosters through which she helped raise money for FSU female athletics. She also has been involved in Swift Creek Elementary as a volunteer presenter at a sports banquet and the Soles4Souls Shoe organization where she helped kids find shoes, and the Kidz 1st Fund through which she participated in the annual bone marrow drive.

Competition

Walch became the third Seminole in history to capture a second-team AVCA All-America honor and fourth overall in 2014 after earning an honorable mention in 2013. She is a two-time All-ACC Team member, capturing first-team honors in 2014 and second in 2013. Walch is a five-time ACC Player of the Week. She enters her senior season with 1,007 career kills and is poised to finish either fifth or sixth on the FSU All-Time Kills List. (She could be the only player in the rally scoring era to make the list after her career is through.) She is a two-time NCAA Regional Tournament Team member. Her 487 kills (3.99 per set) rank as the eighth-best single-season performance in school history. Walch is also a two-time US Collegiate National Team Member and became the first Seminole in history to play in the World University Games in 2015. While representing Team USA, the Americans went 0-3 in a tough Pool Play bracket but rebounded in the silver bracket, posting a 3-0 record for ninth place. Walch was also named to her second All-ACC Preseason Team in 2015.
