Classroom

Despite missing class for two summers of USA Basketball commitments (World University Games) and the demands of basketball, Sims will graduate in just four years, May 2014, with a degree in speech communication.

Character

Sims exhibits high character excellent judgement at all times. She is honest, sincere, ambitious, determined, persistent and most importantly, she is kind.

Community

Sims and her teammates are very active in the community. She has participated in Waco’s Alzheimer Walk, read to school children in various classrooms in the Waco area and delivered stuffed bears to local hospital pediatric wards as part of the team’s annual Care Bear drive.

Competition

Odyssey Sims, a 5-8 guard, has earned a many of honors during her career as a member of the Baylor program including the 2014 Frances Pomeroy Naismith winner and earning Big 12 Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year honors. The six-time Big 12 Player of the Week and two-time ESPNW National Player of the Week has led the nation in scoring much of the season, averaging over 30 points a game during that span. In addition, Sims manages 4.6 assists and 4.5 rebounds a contest while shooting 45 percent from the floor and 80 percent from the free throw line.

The three-time consensus All-American and four-time first-team All-Big 12 selection set a Big 12 Conference single-season scoring record with over 950 points in 2013-14 and has led the Lady Bears to a season-long top 10 ranking. Sims also became the program’s all-time assist leader and career 3-point leader and has scored over 2,400 points and dished out over 615 assists.

Sims led Baylor, 29-4 on the season, to its fourth-straight Big 12 Conference regular season title and fourth-straight Big 12 Championship crown.
