Classroom

Paige Lombard is an Academic All-Ivy selection for the fall of 2015.

Character

Lombard is a two-time team captain (2015, 2016) despite not playing at all in 2014. She has been a big part of Penn Athletics and attended the Wharton Team Leader Workshop.

Community

Lombard has been heavily involved in the UACS soccer program by helping start an after-school soccer program at some of Penn’s partnering community schools. The program began as part of an ABCS course (Academically Based Community Service) and was such a hit that Penn decided to continue to run the program each year during the offseason (spring semester). The program is heading into its third year and is continually growing in regard to the number of schools and students reached and also in regard to the number of Penn athletes who participate. She has been a part of Big Brothers Big Sisters since the spring of 2015 and has helped with an archaeological dig in 2014 in which she was a field team member under Dr. William Pestle in Anasco, Puerto Rico. She also has taught math and soccer to a community of junior high-aged kids in Da Nang, Vietnam.

Competition

n 2015, Lombard was selected third-team NSCAA All-Region, first-team All-Ivy and a second-team ECAC All-Star. She was one of just five players to start all 16 matches and was the anchor for a defense that allowed just 11 goals all season, posting a 0.63 GAA with seven shutouts. Lombard was second on the team in goals (3) and points (6). She began her college career at University of Miami (Fla.), where she played two years before transferring to Penn. Lombard missed the entire 2014 season at Penn due to preseason knee injury.
