Paige Monaghan carries a 3.319 overall GPA into her senior year at Butler University and will graduate with a degree in marketing.

Character

Although Monaghan has already found herself closing in on several Butler scoring records, she remains humble and carries a team-first attitude. Monaghan is the first to give her team credit before mentioning herself, and she never dwells on any past accomplishments as she is always focusing on the next game.

Community

The Butler women’s soccer team participates in a program called TOPSoccer, which is a community-based training and team placement program for athletes with disabilities that is organized by the youth soccer association volunteers. The program is designed to bring the opportunity of learning and playing soccer to any players, ages 8 and older, who have a mental or physical disability. The Bulldogs will host the TOPSoccer program, which gives the team the an opportunity to help with the event and participate in drills with the players at the Sellick Bowl. Monaghan is an integral part of the of the program, working to help develop skills with program participants.

Competition

As of nomination time, Monaghan has played in 68 games during her career at Butler with 60 career points off 22 goals and 16 assists. As a freshman, Monaghan tallied four goals and three assists and was named to the All-BIG EAST Freshman Team and earned third-team All-Region honors. In 2017, following a standout junior season in which she led the team in points (26), goals (10) and assists (6), Monaghan was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year and to the All-BIG EAST First Team. The forward also was an All-Region First Team selection and named a second-team All-American, becoming just the third Bulldog in Butler women’s soccer history to earn the honor. Prior to her senior season, Monaghan was named the Preseason BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year and to the prestigious 2018 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch list. Following the Bulldogs statement-making win over then-ranked No. 20 Notre Dame, in which the forward scored two goals and tallied an assist, Monaghan was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week.
