Pat Spencer earned Patriot League Academic Honor Roll recognition following his junior season in 2018 and was a member of Loyola’s Dean’s List in Spring 2018. He is a business administration major at Loyola.
Character
Spencer has been a leader on the Greyhounds since he arrived on campus as a freshman for the 2016 season. He has worked to be the top attacker in the country heading into 2019 and is a captain for his senior season. Last year, he led an attack that featured a pair of freshmen to an NCAA Quarterfinals bid, mentoring them and helping lead them to become 40-plus point scorers in 2018.
Community
Spencer has served his community in many ways, particularly working with area youth involved with sports. He has been a volunteer boys basketball coach at his high school alma mater, Boys Latin School of Maryland, helping the team reach No. 1 in Baltimore City this season. Spencer has also coached numerous clinics, teams and camps in his native Anne Arundel County through Northern Anne Arundel Parks & Recreation.
Competition
Spencer enters the 2019 season as the Inside Lacrosse/Face-Off Yearbook and Lacrosse Magazine Preseason Player of the Year. He is a three-time USILA All-American, earning first-team honors each of the last two years. He is also a three-time Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year. Spencer has already set the Patriot League and Loyola records for career points (266) and assists (166) entering the 2019 season, and he is on pace to set the Loyola school record for points (currently 311 set in 1981). Spencer is a two-time finalist or the Tewaaraton Award as the nation’s top player and he was the recipient of the Lt. Col. J.I. (Jack) Turnbull Award winner from the USILA as the nation’s top attacker in 2018. He enters his senior season ranked 10th in NCAA history in career assists, 29th in total points.
