Classroom

Boldt is a two-time member of the ECAC Hockey All-Academic team with a 3.1 cumulative grade point average and a 3.7 grade point average in his area of study.  He is a member of Arch@D (Dartmouth’s Architecture Club) and is interested in pursuing architecture via graduate school after Dartmouth.  Boldt is also interested in furniture design and photography, and recently completed an Independent Study Project in which he designed and built a chair.

Character

Boldt will serve as captain of the 2009-10 men’s ice hockey team at Dartmouth.  He overcame a broken ankle one month into his freshman season and returned to play all remaining games including the ECAC Championships.  Dartmouth went on to win the Ivy League title that year for the first time since 1980.  Off the ice, Boldt is a co-captain of his fraternity pledge class and serves as a “big brother” mentor to incoming fraternity members.

Community

Boldt is an annual leader in the hockey team’s December visit to the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth as well as an organizer and participant in the hockey team’s volunteer work at local ice rinks to encourage and foster hockey participation in the surrounding communities.  He is a member of “Athlete’s United” – Dartmouth’s student-athlete organization aimed at reaching out to local communities and connecting Dartmouth student-athletes with nearby children who do not otherwise have access to Dartmouth teams and players. Additionally, Boldt is a volunteer for the “Big Green Readers” program created to facilitate greater interaction between Dartmouth student-athletes and local families.  Athletes travel to local bookstores and spend an afternoon reading books to children.  Boldt is also a student representative/liaison for the “Naked Table Project.”  This two-day event for Hanover residents and Dartmouth students creates an opportunity to become more closely connected in their communal effort towards greater local sustainability.

Competition

Boldt has recorded 23 points in 77 games over the previous three seasons.  He was a member of the Dartmouth men’s ice hockey team that was crowned Ivy League champions in 2006-07.  Following that season, he was invited to attend the 2007 New York Rangers’ rookie camp.
