Classroom

Peter Jok is on pace to graduate with a major in sport and recreation management in May 2017.

Character

Jok cares deeply about his teammates, coaches and fans. He is one of two senior leaders on the 2016-17 squad and will be mentoring six newcomers this season. After every game, he takes time to sign autographs and take photos with young Hawkeye fans.

Community

Jok joins his teammates every year in participating in Iowa’s annual “Day of Caring.” The initiative has student-athletes volunteer their time in helping local non-profit organizations one day every spring. He also helps every summer with Iowa’s youth summer camps, where he helps teach youngsters the fundamentals of the game of basketball.

Competition

Jok averaged 16.1 points per game as a junior last year, which is the highest scoring average by an Iowa non-senior since Chris Kingsbury in 1995, earning him second-team All-Big Ten honors. Jok was named to the 2016-17 Preseason All-Big Ten team (10 players named) and is one of 20 players nationally named to the 2017 Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award Watch List. Last year, Jok boosted his scoring average by +9.1 points per game, tops in the Big Ten.
