Character

“Pete is one of the hardest working, most genuine individuals I have ever coached. He lives the Jesuit mission of being a person for others by the way he conducts himself both around his teammates and around others on campus. His work with the Loyola community and with those who are less fortunate has enriched the lives of countless individuals. He is a true role model to his teammates and to aspiring collegiate soccer players.” - Loyola head coach Brendan Eitz

Community

McKeown Started an open mic on Loyola’s campus for music/poetry/comedy, etc., so that interested students would have an outlet for their creativity. He continues to run the event every week, setting up lights and sound, and has enlisted younger students to help ensure the program continues after his graduation. He is a member of Loyola’s Acafellas, an all-male a cappella group on campus that performs at various charity events including one benefitting St. Baldrick’s and Relay for Life, played guitar at Sunday evening Mass on campus and is a contributing writer for the Loyola Phoenix student newspaper. He produced special interest features for WLUW, Loyola’s student radio station and is a member of the band Mundelein, which has volunteered to play at charity events to help raises money to put children in Uganda through high school.
