Classroom

Konieczny maintains a 3.99 GPA in computer engineering and is a member of the University Honors College. As a junior he was named academic all-district by ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA.

Character

Konieczny currently serves as the co-vice president for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and is a four year SAAC member and representative for the baseball team. He is also a former SAAC secretary and is a current member of the Panther Leadership Academy.

Community

Konieczny helped the Junior League of Pittsburgh build a playground for the Pittsburgh Project for local youth. He played wiffle ball with youth from the Children’s Institute (youths with physical disabilities) and twice helped put on an instructional sports clinic and presented an educational topic for youth from the Pittsburgh’s Hill District community. Konieczny has volunteered time at Family House in Pittsburgh, which serves the same purpose as the Ronald McDonald House.

Competition

As a junior, Konieczny nearly doubled his career batting average when he hit .322 on the year as a part of a lineup that was second in the NCAA in batting average. He also tallied 49 hits (his previous two-season total was 10) and held a .981 fielding percentage while playing in both the infield and outfield.
