Philip Beaulieu

Off the ice, Beaulieu holds a 3.30 grade point average entering his senior year. He is pursuing a major in economics and minor in health and nutrition. At the conclusion of his hockey career, he hopes to go into medical sales using his undergraduate focus to jumpstart his career.

Beaulieu was also named to the WCHA All-Academic team in 2018-19 for his academic accomplishments.


Beaulieu served as an alternate captain as a junior during the 2018-2019 season before being voted the 2019-20 team captain by his peers.

His leadership skills have helped shaped community support around the team and brought them closer to the fans, as many in the greater Marquette area can attest to.


In the summer before his senior year, Beaulieu served on a committee to improve the overall fan experience at Northern Michigan hockey games. Beaulieu has since spearheaded player and fan engagement, assisting in the creation of a new student fan section and getting the team involved in more NMU athletics events and community programs.


Beaulieu began his Northern Michigan career as one of only three freshmen skaters to dress in all 39 games for the Wildcats in 2016-17. He finished seventh on the team in scoring and second among defenders that year.

As a sophomore in 2017-2018, he was named a CCM/AHCA Second-Team All-American while competing in all 43 contests for the Wildcats. Beaulieu tallied 42 points in his second season with 11 goals and 31 assists, leading all NCAA defensemen in the combined categories. His 11 goals were tied for third. He also led the team with 54 blocked shots and a +14 on-ice rating. He was awarded WCHA Defenseman of the Week on three seperate occasions and named to the All-WCHA Second Team.

Beaulieu earned WCHA Defensive Player of the Year and All-WCHA First Team honors during his junior. He led the team with 29 assists and finished second with 35 points, leading all Wildcat defenders. His 22 assists led the WCHA through the regular season and his 28 league points was best among WCHA blueliners. For the second year in a row, Beaulieu claimed three weekly WCHA honors as Defenseman of the Week.

Prior to the start of his senior campaign, Beaulieu was named to the preseason All-American Team by College Hockey News. He was also listed as a member of the Preseason All-WCHA Team.
