Character

Henry has continued to set a strong example for the program and his teammates through his actions on the field, in the classroom and in the community. An established leader on the team, Henry was named a senior captain prior to the season, serving as part of the first set of captains on the team in a number of years. He was a player representative on the head coach hiring committee as a rising sophomore and participated in Brown’s Victory Academy leadership program the past two seasons.

Community

An active member of the Brown and Providence community, Henry has spearheaded the baseball team’s partnership with Team IMPACT the past three seasons. Team IMPACT is a non-profit organization that matches children who have life-threatening illnesses with collegiate sports teams. Through Team IMPACT, Henry has taken a lead role on the team as he organizes visits and helps foster the relationship with Alex Falzone, who joined the Bears as a 5-year-old in 2014. Henry continues his relationship with youth organizations during the summer baseball season, finding time to work multiple weeks at camps in California and Wisconsin. Henry and select members of the team worked with a homeless shelter in Providence this past fall and organized surveys at the shelter to present to political leadership on their behalf. The baseball program has also participated in the VS. Cancer fundraising program the past three seasons and also maintains an active partnership with the Vartan Gregorian Elementary School in the East Side of Providence, where the team sends players to visit a classroom on a regular basis.

Competition

A former second-team All-Ivy selection (2015), Henry has been the team’s starting centerfielder since he first arrived to Providence as a freshman, playing in every game over the last three seasons. He put together a standout season as a sophomore, when he led the Ivy League with 58 hits and ranked second in the league with a .363 batting average and 17 doubles. He also ranked tenth in the nation in doubles per game that season and posted a 30-game on-base streak. A versatile threat out of the leadoff spot, Henry led the team in hits last season for the second time in as many years.
