Classroom

Lovejoy is a two-time ACC Academic Honor Roll member and a two-time All-ACC Academic selection. He is majoring in business administration and studied abroad in Barcelona, Spain, this summer as part of ESADE international business program.

Character

Lovejoy is a member of the Veteran Leaders program in the Baddour Carolina Leadership Academy. He is a veteran presence who is a leader both on the pitch and in the locker room. A standout student who maintained consistency in the classroom despite his playing success he has overcome adversity, returning from an injury that required offseason surgery to be a key contributor on the 2012 national quarterfinalists.

Community

Lovejoy is active in team community service projects such as Share Your Holidays, in which UNC teams “adopt” families at Christmastime;  Carolina Dreams, in which teams host kids who have been patients at UNC Children’s Hospital and take them to Tar Heel sporting events; and visits to the local Ronald McDonald House.

Competition

Lovejoy appeared in 11 games in 2012 and started 10 at forward after missing the first 12 games of the year due to offseason surgery. Despite his short season, still finished second on the team with five goals, he also added a pair of assists. Opened his 2012 campaign in fine fashion, scoring three times in the win at College of Charleston. His hat trick earned him ACC Player of the Week and College Soccer News National Player of the Week honors. He was also named to the Top Drawer Soccer and CSN national teams of the week. Hat trick was the first by a Tar Heel since Alex Dixon in 2009. Grabbed a goal and an assist in the 2-0 win at NC State to earn his second ACC Player of the Week accolade. Had the lone goal in the ACC tournament game against Maryland. Assisted on the game-winning golden goal in the NCAA tournament win over Fairleigh Dickinson. Named to the ACC All-Academic Team and the ACC Honor Roll.
