Classroom
Nored has earned several distinctions for his work in the classroom, including being named to the 2010-11 Horizon League all-academic team, the 2010-11 Horizon League academic honor roll and the Butler Athletic Director’s academic honor roll from 2009-11.
Character
Nored is a team captain this season. He was voted freshman class president in his first week at Butler in 2008-09. Nored is currently being profiled by the NCAA for a series entitled, “A Season in the Life of Ronald Nored”
Community
Nored serves as a youth basketball coach and he’s frequent speaker at area schools and churches. He has also volunteered to serve at the Soup Kitchen at North United Methodist Church over the holidays in each of the past three years.
Competition
As a junior, Nored helped lead Butler to its second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division I National Championship game. He was selected to the Horizon League All-Defensive team last season, a year after being named the league’s Co-Defensive Player of the year. Last year he was also named to the Lefty Driesell Defensive All-America Team. Nored shares Butler’s single-season records for games played (38) and freshman games played (32).
