Character

Donald will serve as team captain for the Bulldogs for the 2009-10 season.  A team leader on and off the ice, his coach, Keith Allain, stated that Donald possessed all the qualities needed to make a great captain – “selflessness, mental toughness, discipline and passion.”  Donald was a winner of the Yale Hockey Coaches Award, which honors the Yale hockey player whose determination and desire contributes most to the team’s morale and spirit of hockey at Yale University.  Also, Donald is a member of the Kiphuth Leadership Academy.  The academy helps Yale student-athletes and coaches grow into outstanding leaders in all areas—athletics, academics and life.

Community

Donald has dedicated his time to the public through his involvement with Yale hockey’s community service efforts.  He has been an integral part of Yale Athletics Youth Day and Yale hockey’s Skate with the Bulldogs.  In addition, Donald is an active member of the Community Outreach Committee as well as the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.  Outside of hockey, Donald has helped foster animals for the Edmonton Humane Society as well as raised funds for a non-profit environmental organization.

Competition

Donald has played in 89 games for the Bulldogs, logging three goals and 13 assists in a span of three years.  In the 2008-09 season, he tallied two assists in a 5-0 win over Cornell in an ECAC Hockey Tournament title game, which earned him a spot on the 2009 ECAC Hockey All-Tournament team.  Donald’s solid play on defense helped Yale to a school-record 24 wins and helped in achieving its second ECAC regular-season title, a third NCAA Tournament appearance, and an Ivy League crown.
