Character

When the Bucknell baseball team recently needed to move home games to a location over two hours away from their campus which required lots of extra work and effort on the part of the team’s support staff. After returning from Philadelphia on Sunday evening, Ryan took time the following morning to send a “thank you” email to the athletic administration and training staffs on behalf of the baseball seniors for making it possible for the team to play the games. According to Bucknell baseball head coach Gene Depew, who is in his 26th season with the Bison. “Ryan has been the model of a player since the day he arrived. His work ethic on and off the field is one of the best I have ever seen. From a straight “A” transcript in high school to almost that performance here it is evident that he is a hard working motivated student. He has the same approach to baseball as evidenced by his success so far this year and over the last three seasons. Ryan will do whatever it takes for him to be successful. He has the utmost respect from his teammates and the coaching staff.”

Community

Ryan serves as the President of Bucknell’s Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), which sponsors several community service events, for example: recess with elementary students, reading to pre-schoolers, activity night for area middle school students. As a member of the Mortar Board he is involved in community service activities such as collecting and delivering books for elementary students.
