Community

As a junior assistant captain last season, Lafferty has been a consistent ambassador for Brown hockey within the university and the surrounding Providence community. He oversees the program’s annual connection with the Vartan Gregorian Elementary School, where the team sends players to visit a dedicated classroom on a weekly basis, and will continue to serve in that leadership role this year. He also contributes regularly to the program’s participation with local youth organizations and clinics.

Competition

Lafferty put together a breakout junior season when he led the Bears in points (35) and assists (22) in all 31 games played, en route to All-ECAC honors. He also ranked second on the team with 13 goals and averaged 1.13 points per game, earning team MVP accolades. Lafferty, a Pittsburgh Penguins draftee, also earned second-team All-Ivy honors and was named a semifinalist for the Walter Brown Award, presented annually to the best American-born college hockey player in New England. A talented multi-sport athlete, Lafferty was also a member of the Brown golf team for the previous three seasons.
