Classroom
An excellent student with a 3.59 cumulative grade-point average as a finance major, Sammie Bachrodt earned All-MVC Scholar-Athlete Honorable Mention honors as a junior. She completed an internship with the finance and accounting departments of Principal Global Investors.
Character
Bachrodt is a tremendous student-athlete who always has a smile on her face, is kind and is willing to do anything asked of her. She will never say no to doing an in-person interview, phone interview or other tasks as needed. A two-time team captain, Bachrodt is a tremendous teammate and leader.
Community
Bachrodt and her teammates have performed more than 1,000 community service hours each academic year at Drake and within the Des Moines community. She volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, Courage League Sports, Meals from the Heartland, and Technology Help Session at Plymouth Place (retirement community).
Competition
Bachrodt was voted the 2018 MVC Defensive Player of the Year along with being named to the All-MVC First Team, MVC All-Defensive Team, All-MVC First Team preseason selection, named to All-MVC Honorable Mention team as a junior. She has started all 100 games in her career and needs to score 135 points to reach 1,000 career points. Bachrodt led the team in steals and assists her junior season. With a total of 200 steals, she needs 75 steals this season to become the school’s all-time leader.
