Character

From Minnesota softball head coach Jessica Allister: “Sara epitomizes the phrase ‘hard work pays off’. Sara has quite possibly the best work ethic I have seen in my 10 years of coaching. Her commitment to being the best softball pitcher she can possibly be sets Sara apart. Whether it be summer workouts or in season training, Sara is driven to be excellent. Her leadership within the program speaks for itself. Sara has been the driving force behind our program’s turnaround and will definitely leave the Gopher softball program much better off than it was when she found it.”

Community

In addition to impressive efforts on the field an in the classroom, Moulton has done 25 hours of community service with a plethora of different organizations, including Second Harvest, the Golden Gopher Fund, East Side Neighborhood Services, HopeKids, and Twins Fest.

Competition

A three-time All-Big Ten honoree including a First Team selection in 2013, Moulton enters her senior season as the school record holder for career shutouts with 35 and complete games with 91. She has also amassed 85 wins and 940 strikeouts in 807.2 innings pitched—all numbers that rank her in the top three in Minnesota history. A season ago, she was named to the NFCA All-Region First Team and was twice named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week. For the second year in a row in 2013, Moulton tossed two no-hitters, becoming the second pitcher in Gopher history to throw four or more no-hitters in her career. Her performance was a catalyst to the team compiling its third-straight 30-win season and reaching the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2003, as well as the Big Ten Tournament title game.
