Majoring in biology with a minor in chemistry and mathematics, Goodwin is set to graduate this fall in just three and a half years.  He is a six-time Dean’s List member and posted a perfect 4.0 GPA in three semesters, including in UNC’s championship season of 2011.  He is also a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society and boasts a GPA of 3.955.  He was UNC’s Elite 88/89 nominee in the past two College Cups and earned the prestigious I.R. Hagadorn Award from the UNC Biology Department, annually given to the top student in the department.  He is a four-time All-ACC Academic Team member and earned NSCAA Scholar All-America honors in 2011.  He was also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team honors.

Character

The Raleigh, N.C., native has appeared in 48 straight matches and will serve as a team captain in the upcoming season. Goodwin is also a Veteran Leader in the Carolina Leadership Academy.

Community

Goodwin is a member of the North Carolina Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and has participated in several community service events as a representative of North Carolina.

Competition

Goodwin is entering his third year as the starting goalkeeper for North Carolina.  He owns a 38-6-6 record in 52 career games played with 23 career shutouts.  Registered double-digits shutouts for the second straight year in 2011 en route to the NCAA National Championship.  His 23 shutouts are six shy of the UNC career record.  He has posted a 0.64 career goals against average, which is currently the lowest in school history. Goodwin has earned back-to-back ACC All-Tournament team honors.
