Classroom

Majoring in Business Administration-Marketing with a minor in peace studies and is set to graduate in May 2007. Has a GPA of 3.416 in the Mendoza College of Business. 2006 Second Team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American. Notre Dame Club of St. Joseph Valley Knute Rockne Scholar-Athlete Award Winner in 2005 & 2006. Has many career interests including playing softball professionally, going overseas to do charity work or work on a service project, going back to school to receive her MBNA. Her passion is helping people, therefore whatever line of work she chooses she wants to be sure it helps someone’s life or improves the well being of those people that are around her.

Character

Was named one of the captains of the 2007 Notre Dame softball team and in preparation for her increased leadership role, read several books on the subject including adopting John Wooden’s Pyramid of Success. Was selected to participate in the Student Leadership Institute Leadership Institute. Brown has always taken a leadership role, even when she wasn’t a captain- for example teaching teammate how to prepare for the game mentally and always have the right mind set to not only perform on the field but off the field as well.

Community

Has organized events for teammates, such as going to homeless shelters on their own to help feed the poor and those that haven’t been given the same opportunities in life.Firmly believes in giving back to the community and helping those less fortunate. A few of the other programs she has been involved within the community include the Shamrock Games where she went to visit elderly homes to just spend time with then and give them company, the Boys and Girls Club she went to play and spend time with kids and Paintfeast when they painted murals of pictures for St. Joe Hospital. She helps to conduct free softball clinics to raise money and teach young softball players about the game. Brown volunteers at Lindas Middle School where she spends time a interacting with the middle school students.

Competition

One of the all-time great players in the history of Notre Dame softball Brown ranks among the top-ten in the Notre Dame record books in eight career categories including games played, at bats, batting average, runs scored, hits, home runs, walks and stolen bases. 2006 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Third Team All-American Selection-just the 16th Notre Dame player to ever earn this distinction. NFCA All-Mideast Region First Team, First Team All-BIG EAST in 2004 and 2006, Second Team All-BIG EAST in 2005. Set the conference record for hits in conference games (38) in 2006 and was named the Monogram Club co-Most Valuable Player in 2006. As senior, leads the team and is among the conference leaders in batting average, hits, runs, on-base percentage, walks and stolen bases.
