Classroom

As a junior, Stephany LaRosa earned her first Pac-12 All-Academic honor and has twice been named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.

Character

LaRosa has been a leader by example throughout her four seasons at UCLA. Coming into Westwood as a highly-touted, high school shortstop, she started her college career at third base. LaRosa switched back to shortstop as a sophomore, and then truly showing her team-over-self mentality, learned two new positions—catcher and first base—for her junior campaign. She committed just two errors and six passed balls behind the plate.

Community

LaRosa has served the community by volunteering at the Mattel Children’s Hospital and teaching at the Wilshire and Santa Monica Softball clinics. She has worked with I’m Going to College, which encourages furthering education, as well as Dribble for the Cure, an event of raising funds and awareness in the fight against pediatric cancer held every year on the UCLA campus.

Competition

LaRosa is a three-time All-Region and All-Pac-12 honoree, as well as a two-time All-American. Her name is littered all over the UCLA record books, as she enters her senior season second in slugging, fourth in batting average and on base percentage and seventh in home runs. A First-Team All-American, All-Region and All-Pac-12 selection in 2014, she ranked third on the team in batting average (.367), second in home runs (14) and fourth in runs batted in (45). LaRosa was also tops on the squad with a .727 slugging percentage and 46 walks and second with a .527 on-base percentage. She ranked fourth in the nation in walks per game and 22nd in on-base percentage. LaRosa set a school record by reaching base in 40 straight games and tied a career high with an eight-game hitting streak. Defensively, she committed just two errors in 276 chances (.993 fielding percentage), making only six passed balls.
