Steven Fogarty is a marketing major in Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business. He has a cumulative 3.21 grade-point average and was selected to the 2014-15 Hockey East All-Academic Team.

Character

As a senior, Fogarty is serving as Notre Dame’s captain. He was also a team captain as a junior, making him just the 15th two-time captain of the Notre Dame hockey team and the first since 2007. He is also a two-year participant in Notre Dame’s Rosenthal Leadership Academy.

Community

Fogarty has been involved in the community throughout his time on the Notre Dame campus. Most recently he has helped the Irish take part in a build for the Habitat for Humanity of St. Joseph County as well as the Notre Dame hockey team’s involvement with the Green Dot initiative, which seeks to end violence with a community-based approach.

Competition

Fogarty has been a major contributor to the Irish lineup since arriving on campus, playing at least 33 games in each of his first three seasons. He has developed into an impactful two-way center that has increased his offensive output in each of his first three full seasons, and he also opened his senior season with his first career hat trick (at Penn State). He helped the Irish to NCAA Tournament appearances in 2013 and 2014, as well as helping Notre Dame with the 2013 CCHA Tournament Championship. He was a third-round selection by the New York Rangers in the 2011 National Hockey League Draft.
