Classroom

Miller received the Dean’s Award for Excellence, was named to the Colgate Raider Honor Roll in 2007, 2008 and 2010, and the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll in 2007 and 2008. He participates in the the Colgate Leadership Academy from 2009- present and the US Naval Academy Leadership Conference in January 2010.

Character

Miller is a leader on and off the field. Not only is he an active member in the community, but he continues to challenge himself on the field, coming back from a year off that consisted of six surgeries over a 13-month period to lead the team to the 2010 Patriot League regular season title and being named a co-captain for the 2011 season. Off the field he was one of two male soccer players to participate in the veteran leaders program at Colgate and was the only male student-athlete to represent Colgate at the US Naval Leadership Conference. He is the true example of what a student-athlete should be.

Community

Miller is currently volunteering at the Council for Relationships in Philadelphia and is also working as a Field School Fellow for the Madison County Planning Department, where he is working on a greenhouse gas inventory project for the county. In the past he has also worked at his local nature center, helped train youth soccer teams, visited elementary schools to speak about being a student-athlete, and participated in a project to clean and repair old bicycles that were then donated to people who can’t afford cars. He is also a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and visits Hamilton Elementary School for the Adopt-a-Classroom program.

Competition

Miller was named to the 2008 and 2010 Patriot League Second Team after an impressive season in which he led the team with 12 points from five goals and two assists. He was also named to the Lafayette Puma Classic All-Tournament Team and received Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week honors. He was named the Colgate University Rookie of the Year and was the team’s Freshman of the Year in 2008. He was also the Patriot League Rookie of the Week twice and was named the Raider Adidas Fall Classic MVP and to the tournament team all in his rookie season in 2007.
