Character

A senior captain, Shamanski has been leader for the Friars throughout his career. One of the few mainstays in the lineup throughout the transition to a new coaching staff, which came on board when Shamanski was a sophomore, he has been part of a turn around that has seen the Friars go from a team with eight wins his freshman season to a top-10 ranking as a senior.

Community

Shamanski serves as the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Representative for the men’s hockey team and has lead several community services initiatives over the past few seasons including the Friars adding Kevin Rich to the team through Team IMPACT, holding an outdoor youth hockey clinic in downtown Providence and taking part in Reading Week – where Friars head out to local schools to read to classrooms.

Competition

A 2012 Honorable Mention All-Hockey East selection, Shamanski has been a steadying force on the Friar blue line. He has played in all 38 of Providence’s games the past two seasons, leading the Friars to back-to-back Hockey East semifinal appearances. As a junior he posted a career-high 12 assists and 14 points as Providence’s leading scorer among defensemen.
