UMKC’s Sydney Crimmins is currently pursuing her master’s in public administration with a health sciences emphasis and career plans to be a hospital administrator. She is a UMKC Scholar-Athlete and a member of the Dean’ List, while graduating Magna Cum Laude. In addition, Crimmins is a winner of UMKC’s Above & Beyond Award and the Cynthia Joy Gabel Memorial Endowment. She has also been a two-time Academic All-WAC honoree.

Character

Crimmins has been named UMKC team captain for this season. While being a leader for the squad, she has also took initiative to be a part of a handful of organizations around campus. Crimmins has took part in UMKC Going Places media campaign, was the introductory speaker for Robin Roberts at UMKC’s STARR Women’s Hall of Fame for greater Kansas City, Division I National SAAC Representative of the Western Athletic Conference, vice president of the WAC SAAC and vice president for UMKC SAAC. She has also attended the 2015 NCAA National Convention where she discussed NCAA legislation and facilitated national initiatives. Crimmins was an intern for Kansas City Sports Commission and WIN for KC.

Community

Crimmins has participated in the following: Walk-A-Mile for UMKC’s womens center (2011-2014), UMKC mive-in day (2012-15), Morning Glory Cafe Soup Kitchen (2011-14), Berkley Childhood Center (2012-14), Pet Adoption (2012), Celebrity Reading Day at Center Middle School (2012-13), Harvesters Food Fight (2013), Boys & Girls Club (2013-14), WIN for KC Luncheon (2014), TMCA (2014), Holiday Toy Drive (2014), UMKC Volleyball Camp (2013-14), Camp WIN (2015), NCAA Backpack Program (2014-15), Winter Clothing Drive in Washington and Coaches vs. Cancer (2011). She also arranged Happy Bottoms Diaper Drive in 2012 and made blankets for fire fighters in Orem, Utah. Additionally, she promoted ALS awareness with the ice bucket challenge.

Competition

Crimmins was a 2014 first-team All-WAC selection and a 2013 second-team All-WAC selection. She was named to the 2015 and 2014 Preseason All-WAC Teams. Crimmins led UMKC’s team to the first ever conference title in 2014, setting school record in wins (24), conference wins (12) and consecutive wins (17). She was named WAC Player of the Week on 10/13/14 and 9/30/13 and earned All-Tournament Team honors at the CEFCU Classic in 2015. She was also named to the All-Tournament teams at the Maryland Invitational, the Arkansas Invitational and the Kangaroo Klassic in 2013. Crimmins ranks fifth all-time at UMKC in career hitting percentage.
