Tanner Jago has been named to the Atlantic Hockey All-Academic Team (GPA of 3.0 or higher during the season) every season since his freshman year. He has successfully managed being both an athlete and a student at Bentley, which is one of the top business schools in the country. In addition to his finance major, he minors in both mathematics and history.
Character
Jago’s leadership and strength of character has been evident since he stepped on the Bentley campus. He was given one of the highest honors a hockey player can receive when he was named a team captain for his senior season. He also served as an assistant captain for his junior season.
Community
Jago has been active with Waltham Youth Hockey, helping to grow the game at the local level. He is a visible presence on the Bentley campus, helping the team’s new on-campus arena get built, which has raised awareness of the hockey program exponentially.
Competition
Jago has been one of the top defensemen in Atlantic Hockey during his time at Bentley. Last season, his 28 points (6 goals, 22 assists) were third-most among defensemen in Atlantic Hockey, and his 0.80 points per game average ranked 14th nationally among defensemen. He excelled on the power-play, with 20 points on the man-advantage, the second most in the conference in 2017-18. Jago finished the season third on the team in points with 22 assists, ranking T-10th in Atlantic Hockey. He entered his senior season with career stats of 10 goals and 48 assists in 114 games.
