During the spring of 2019, Taryn Jakubowski posted a 4.0 GPA to raise her cumulative mark to 3.81 over her first three years at Creighton. She also posted a 3.89 during her competition season in the fall of 2018.

Character

Entering her second season as a captain for the Bluejays, Jakubowski is often asked to speak for her team to the media. Regardless of the outcome she has shown character and composure. She genuinely enjoys her sport and her teammates, which comes through in any discussion with her.

Community

Jakubowski has gone above and beyond the community service requirements for a Creighton student-athlete both in hours (50 per semester) and in attitude. The thing seen most often is her desire to work with children. This summer she was one of two women’s players asked to assist with the boys soccer camps. She did so flawlessly, helping to bring smiles and technical skills to the children. That same ability is on display following Creighton matches as she stays on the field for each autograph request, then returns once media sessions are complete.

Competition

Jakubowski was an All-BIG EAST First Team selection following the 2018 season and was a unanimous choice for the 2019 preseason honor. She has led Creighton in points and goals scored in each of her last two seasons, and, as of nomination time, she also had scored a goal in the Bluejays’ first contest of 2019. This was accomplished despite undoubtedly being the focal point of opponents’ scouting.
