Taylor Nowlin is a secondary education major with an emphasis in physical education. She currently has a GPA of 3.06.

Character

Nowlin has continued to impress on the field, in the community and in the classroom. She exemplifies the standard of a great teammate and role model. She always has a smile on her face and supports her teammates regardless of how her performance in the circle turns out. Nowlin has continued to improve in the circle through her work ethic and dedication. She has remained humble as the team’s most decorated pitcher and as GCU’s all-time strikeout leader.

Community

Nowlin’s community service activities include Distance for the Difference Marathon hosted by Phoenix Children’s hospital, in which the team motivated and cheered on runners; serving as an Imagine Elementary, PE volunteer; and an Arizona Baptist Children’s Services foster care event.

Competition

Most recently, Nowlin was named the Western Athletic Conference Preseason Pitcher of the Year. She finished her junior year with a 2.31 ERA and 132 strikeouts through 160.2 innings pitched, and posted a WAC-best .204 opponent batting average and led the league with 19 wins. Nowlin produced two no-hitters on the season and combined for a third, and also threw five one-hitters. During league play, she led the league in wins (7), strikeouts (35) and games started (10), and also ranked second in innings pitched (59.1) and fourth in opponent batting average (.232) and ERA (2.83). Nowlin was named WAC Pitcher of the Week three times during 2016 and earned WAC Pitcher of the Year honors at the conclusion of the 2016 campaign.
