Tejay Johnson is on schedule to graduate in four years this spring with a degree in habilitation of the deaf and hard of hearing.
Character
Johnson is of the highest character and what’s right about intercollegiate athletics. He represents Texas Christian University in a first-class manner. Among a myriad of campus involvement, Johnson is a member of TCU’s gospel choir and the secretary and historian for the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.
Community
Johnson mentors middle-school students, volunteers at a homeless shelter and participates in Big Brothers/Big Sisters events. In recognition of his community involvement, Johnson has been nominated for the American Football Coaches Association Good Works Team.
Competition
Johnson has been named to a pair of preseason All-America teams in addition to being on 2010 watch lists for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, Lott Trophy and Jim Thorpe Award. Johnson was an All-Mountain West Conference selection in 2009 as he tied for the team lead on TCU’s nation-leading defense with three interceptions. He ranked fourth on the Horned Frogs with 59 tackles.
